Just Stargazing

For this week I wanted to keep my drawing simple but fun! Like I said last week, Stargazer lilies are one of my most favorite flowers...along with sunflowers, tulips, hydrangeas, poppies, orchids....and so on and so on! If you can't tell, I love flowers! But for this week I decided to focus on Stargazer lilies because of their vivid pink colors and uniqueness. Overall, I think my drawing came out quite good.

I totally love how I started the stem and leaves. The dark green with the light green gives the stem shadow and more depth. So far so good!

Next I added some color! I'm actually too fond of the color pink but I love how vivid Prismacolor's pink-red selection of pencils are. Very fun to play around with!
We're getting there! I think blending was most fun this week with all of the pinks, reds, and orange colors.

Voila! Cool, huh? The final product is a success! Again, it totally looks better in person but I'm quite happy about the end result.

After finishing this drawing, I started to think about what I was going to draw for next week's project. I was stumped. I couldn't think of anything but after looking through YouTube tutorials, searching online, and talking to others about what I should draw, I finally decided that I'm going to draw a Westie! In my painting class last semester, I painted a portrait of my dog for my mom because she's obsessed with Westies. So I figured that a Westie drawing will be quite fun! I found one on DeviantArt (again!) by Dracilla112 that is really adorable that I can't wait to recreate.
